Dear parishioners, 

The Fifth Plenary Council of Australia begins today. You might remember being involved in some parish-based discussion sessions in 2019 in preparation for this event.

A Plenary Council is the highest formal gathering of all the local Catholic Churches. The Council is being held to discuss and pray about the future of the Catholic Church in Australia. It will meet every day until Saturday 10 October. All sessions are being held online due to the pandemic.

As a member of the Plenary Council, I will be spending the next online! I would ask for your prayers for me and the other 277 members of the Council, as we discuss and pray about the future of the Church in Australia.
